On Wednesday evening we welcomed our first child Camden Ryder King. To pick up from my last hospital update...
We just were not progressing at all. After being induced and at the hosptial for over 24 hours, my doctors made the decision at 7:30 that evening to schedule a C-Section for 8:15 pm. on Wednesday night. I was still only dilated to a 4 and could not get past that point. Plus the baby's head was still very high and his heart rate was dropping after contractions. Even though I knew this was the only option for us, I was so upset. It took a little while to calm down, but after they told me they were going to go ahead with the c-section everything happened so fast! In what seemed like a matter of only a few minutes, Carl was getting his dressing on to go into the operating room, I was telling everyone goodbye trying to hold back the tears and was wheeled into surgery. They sent Carl in after I was preped and in less than 5 minutes Camden Ryder was born. It was a bit scary being strapped down knowing someone was opening you up, but Carl encouraged me the entire time trying to keep me calm. Not even knowing they had started yet, the doctor said, "We're almost done Crystal." The next thing I knew they said, "Okay dad, take a look at your son!" Carl stood up and the expression on his face was one I'll never forget as long as I live. Then they held Camden over the curtain so I could see him and said, "Look at your baby boy, congratulations!" I was alarmed because he wasn't crying at first and was purple and then a few minutes later I heard his very first loud cry! I lost it at that point and was so overwhelmed and nervous and excited all at the same time. I couldn't stop crying!!! I got to kiss my sweet baby boy one time and watched as Carl held his son for the first time and was sent out to the nursery to be with Camden. The doctor said there was no way he could have fit through the birth canal. In fact, the dr. during surgery got on top of my bed & strattled me because he had to push Camden down he was so high!
I was in the recovery room for over an hour and then was wheeled back to my room. I had to wait 3 hours before I could hold and see my baby for the first time! His temperature was too low for him to be released from the nursery. Once I held him everything I had gone through didn't matter. It was wonderful holding my baby I had waited so long for!
Instead of posting only a few pictures on this blog, please go to the link below to see almost 200 pictures of our amazing experience! Ill be posting more updates soon of Camden once I start moving around better. Camden is wonderful, eating great and getting lots of attention!!!

Congratulations!! He is as perfect as can be!! I hear everyone thinks he looks like Carl, but I see his mommy in him! You look in heaven holding him. I sat Gavin on my lap to see the pictures and he wanted to crawl across the desk to touch the baby on the screen.. He even laughed at a close up picture of him. I guess he remembers having met him a few weeks ago! Congratulations to you both and I can't wait to meet him! (that did not seem like 141 pictures. I could have looked at 100 more! He is precious!!)
